Virginia Tech shooting victims included staff

Stories published Thursday and Friday about hearings on the Sandy Hook shootings initially reported that 32 students had been slain at Virginia Tech in 2007. The victims actually included 27 students and five staff members.

Organization matters

A story in Tuesday's edition of the New Haven Register and online at www.nhregister.com incorrectly reported the name of the group that organized an immigration rights rally that was held in downtown New Haven. Unidad Latina en Accion organized the rally and it was supported by the Seminarians for a Democratic Society at Yale Divinity School.

A story that ran online at www.nhregister.com and in the New Haven Register, Register Citizen and Middletown Press incorrectly reported the spelling of the name of the Connecticut commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. She is Patricia Rehmer.

Story misidentified school's president

A story on the closure of Hamden's Sawyer School incorrectly identified the person who last oversaw the school. The president  is Paul Kelly. A letter about the closures was sent to the Register by the office of U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, which named a past president. A second letter was eventually sent out to Paul Kelly, though the Register did not receive the letter.
